Hello Owls and Owl parents,
Welcome to our Class Page.
Owl Class is taught by Miss Gadsdon and supported by Mrs Hooley, Miss Fones and Mrs Amitrano. We are excited to welcome our new cohort of children and families into our school and look forward to working with you all throughout the coming year.
This half term in Owl Class we are thinking 'All About Me.' Within this unit, we will look at ourselves and our families, learn about the parts of our bodies, find out about our local area both past and present and learn about people within the community who help us. We will have visits from the fire brigade, NHS staff, the police and our local reverend who will speak to the children about their roles within the community and how they demonstrate all of our school's Christian Values within their work.
In phonics, children will be introduced to the first set of sounds and begin to use these to segment and blend to read their first words as well as building words, applying this knowledge and understanding that words are made up of sounds.
In maths, we will be building on knowledge acquired in preschool, deepening our understanding of numbers to 5. We will explore composition, rules of counting, reasoning and subitising.
In PE we will explore travelling in different ways, jumping and balancing. We will also teach the importance of physical education and why exercise is important in keeping our bodies and minds healthy.
