Welcome Rabbits!
Welcome to our class page, where you can find information about PE days, homework and the learning we will be doing over the term.
PE Day: Monday and Friday - Please ensure your child comes to school in their PE kit on these days. Make sure they have warm clothes and suitable shoes in case their lesson is outside.
Within Maths this half term, we will be focusing on Number & Place Value with 3-digit numbers and begin to look at Geometry: Properties of Shape. We will use a range of practical resources to explore and solve different calculations.
In English this half term, we will start by recapping what a simple sentence is as well as the different sentence types we looked at in Year 2. We will use the traditional tale ‘The Little Mermaid’ by Hans Christian Andersen to support this. We will also focus our fiction writing around the story of the Genie and the fisherman from ‘Usborne illustrated Arabian Nights’ by Anna Milbourne. We will be practising sentence structure, character descriptions, dialogue and punctuation.
In Spelling, we will begin to spell words using new prefixes, suffixes, and complex letter patterns. We will also use a range of written and practical activities to further demonstrate our understanding. We will continuously make links to the Year ¾ Common Exception Words (statutory words). You can find a copy of these Common Exception words in your Child’s reading diary.
In Geography, we will begin by focusing on Spatial Sense and in Art, we will be exploring Line and looking at how artists use these in their work. In Science, we will be focused on The Human Body. In RE, we will begin to look at ‘What is my duty, how do I know and why does it matter?’ - Sikh Worldviews. In PE, we will be focused on the Games: Ball handling and Gym: Patterns and pathways.. In DT we will be making key rings/decorations..
Homework: Please continue to read 4 times a week with your child and can you continue to log this in their reading diaries.
